Consistent KVM VPS performance

I've been using Owned Networks for a few years now, and this latest New York City KVM VPS order was just as solid as my previous ones. Provisioning was quick, maybe 15 minutes. The network speed on the 1Gbps port has always been reliable for my projects, and this server is no exception. It's why I keep coming back, honestly. No surprises, which is what I need.

Decent Linux VPS, good support

I ordered a Linux KVM VPS from Owned Networks a few weeks ago for a small development project. The ordering process was straightforward enough, picked out the specs I needed for a Dallas location. It provisioned in under an hour, which was good. I had a small hiccup with setting up a specific network config, so I opened a support ticket. They responded within a couple of hours and helped me sort it out. Quality of the VPS itself seems fine, it's been running stably. DDoS protection was included, which is a nice bonus. Overall, a solid experience for the price.

Good value on an NVMe VPS

I was looking for an NVMe VPS and compared a few providers, including RackNerd and CloudCone. Owned Networks had a pretty good offer on their Los Angeles NVMe VPS, especially with the recurring lifetime discount I found. It made the monthly cost quite competitive. I signed up and the server was ready in about half an hour. Performance for the price I paid seems really good. It felt like a worthwhile purchase for my budget.

Anyone compared their KVM VPS to, say, Vultr or DigitalOcean? Wondering if the performance is similar for the price.

B Beth Z. 2 months ago
For the price point, I think Owned Networks is pretty competitive, especially if you can snag a good recurring promo. Vultr/DO might have more features or a bigger network, but for raw performance, ON is solid.

It really depends on what you're doing. Vultr and DO are good, but ON often has better bang for buck if you don't need all the bells and whistles and can find a good coupon. Especially for basic KVM workloads, they hold up.

What's the deal with their Windows VPS? Does it actually run well? Some providers can be a bit janky with Windows on KVM.

I've got a Windows Server 2019 VPS with them, and it's been surprisingly snappy. No complaints so far, it works as expected for my use case.

They do support Windows OS, yeah. I mean, it's KVM, so it should be fine. Depends on the specs you get, obviously.

Hey, thinking about grabbing a VPS from these guys. Anyone know if they have any recurring discount codes floating around right now?

C Colin 2 months ago
Yeah, I picked up a KVM VPS last Black Friday with a pretty sweet recurring discount. They do them sometimes, usually for new orders though.

Check hosting forums, that's where I usually see the good ones announced. Most of them are for new customers only, but they do stick for the life of the service.

Do they offer any sort of money-back guarantee? Just in case the service isn't what I expect.

R Rachel 3 months ago
I think they do, but it's usually within a very short window, like 24 or 48 hours for VPS. Definitely check their terms before you buy.

Yeah, I recall seeing something about a money-back. Not a super long one like some other hosts, but it's there. Good for testing it out at least.

How fast are their servers typically provisioned, especially for a dedicated server? Need something up and running kinda quick.

P Priya Vargas 2 months ago
Dedicated servers can take a bit, afaik it's not instant like VPS. Might be a few hours or even a day depending on custom builds.

VPS are usually super quick, minutes. Dedicated is a different beast, can be anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days if they need to do a custom setup. Best to ask support if you have a hard deadline.
